The Climate Change Levy (CCL)

The Climate Change Levy is a tax on the energy used by companies and organisations in the private and public sector. It is one of the methods introduced by the UK Goverrnment to encourage lower energy consumption in order to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. The tax does not apply to the supply of electricity to domestic properties. Some organisations are exempt. The current rate is 0.509p/KWh paid on all electricity bills and it will increase every April in line with either the RPI or CPI.

For the current rates and more information, take a look at the HM Revenue & Customs website: Climate Change Levy Rates and Climate Change Levy Introduction

The installation of voltage optimisation will lower a company’s electricity consumption and, therefore, reduce electricity costs and the associated Climate Change Levy.
